The 12 Affiliated Halls of St. John’s College are all located on the east side of Gaolers Inn Road and were built between 1940 and the late 1980s. Each hall is privately owned, but they operate under a special agreement with St. John’s College for the maintenance of common elements. Although each hall has its own set of rules and regulations to abide by, each residence is open to students from all faculties and schools at McGill University as well as non-students who meet their eligibility requirements. Each hall has a manager or owner who oversees the property and works closely with the Principal of St. John’s College. Hall of Residence Descriptions

## Hall of Residence Descriptions – Macdonald Hall (Mac Hall) Mac Hall is the closest to St. John’s College and is located on Gaolers Inn Road at Cairn, on the corner closest to the street. It is a co-ed, single-occupancy, undergraduate residence with a capacity of 97 students. Students share a washroom, kitchen and common areas. It is also home to the St. John’s College Graduate Students’ Society, which hosts Cairn for Breakfast once a month. Mac Hall accepts students from all faculties at McGill University and welcomes both domestic and international students. – Brownian Hall Brown Hall is a co-ed, single-occupancy undergraduate residence with a capacity of 25 residents. Residents share a kitchen and common areas. This building is also home to the McGill University Poetry Open, an open mic poetry reading event hosted twice per month. Brown Hall is also home to the McGill University Philosophy Graduate Students’ Society and welcomes students from all faculties at McGill University. – Robson Hall Robson Hall is a co-ed, single-occupancy undergraduate residence with a capacity of 15 residents. Residents share a kitchen and common areas. This building is also home to the McGill University Philosophy Graduate Students’ Society and welcomes students from all faculties at McGill University. Robson Hall does not accept International students. – Burton-Shank Hall (BSH) Burton-Shank Hall is co-ed, single-occupancy undergraduate residence with a capacity of 17 residents. Residents share a kitchen and common areas. This building is also home to the McGill University Philosophy Graduate Students’ Society and welcomes students from all faculties at McGill University. BHS does not accept International students. – Fraser Hall Fraser Hall is a co-ed, single-occupancy undergraduate residence with a capacity of 50 residents. Residents share a kitchen and common areas. This building is also home to the McGill University Political Science Graduate Students’ Society and welcomes students from all faculties at McGill University. Fraser Hall does not accept International students. – Hammond Hall (Hammond) Hammond Hall is a co-ed, single-occupancy undergraduate residence with a capacity of 20 residents. Residents share a kitchen and common areas. This building is also home to the McGill University Political Science Graduate Students’ Society and welcomes students from all faculties at McGill University. Hammond Hall does not accept International students. – JMS and TMS Halls (JMS & TMS) The JMS and TMS Halls are co-ed, single-occupancy undergraduate residences with a capacity of 20 residents for each building. Residents share a kitchen and common areas. These buildings are also home to the McGill University Religious Studies Graduate Students’ Society and welcome students from all faculties at McGill University. JMS and TMS Halls do not accept International students. – Gray’s Hall Gray’s Hall is a co-ed, single-occupancy undergraduate residence with a capacity of 16 residents. Residents share a kitchen and common areas. This building is also home to the McGill University Religious Studies Graduate Students’ Society and welcomes students from all faculties at McGill University. Gray’s Hall does not accept International students. – Robertson Hall (Robertson) Robertson Hall is a co-ed, single-occupancy undergraduate residence with a capacity of 25 residents. Residents share a kitchen and common areas. This building is also home to the McGill University Religious Studies Grad Students’ Society and welcomes students from all faculties at McGill University. Robertson Hall does not accept International students.

– St. John’s College The College is located at the top of Cairn Street on the East side of Gaolers Inn Road. It is home to the Faculty of Arts and the Faculty of Education. The College was constructed in 1905 and is a 5-minute walk from the Macdonald campus on the corner of Cairn and Gaolers Inn Road. – Lady M College The College, located at the corner of Cairn and Mackay Street, is home to the Faculty of Engineering and the Faculty of Architecture. The subway station is just a short walk away, making it easy to travel to the other side of the city. – St. George’s College The College is located at the corner of Cairn and Pender Street, and is home to the Faculty of Science and the Faculty of Law. The College was constructed in 1911 and is a 5-minute walk away from Cairn and Pender Street. – St. Andrew’s College The College is located at the corner of Cairn and McTavish Street, right next to Cairn and Pender, and is home to the Faculty of Administration. The College was constructed in 1926 and is a 5-minute walk from Cairn and McTavish.

The Colleges themselves are beautiful and central locations, but are a bit more expensive and may not be the best fit for everyone.
