You know your kid(s) better than anyone.
At-home moms have a special bond with their children that isn’t shared by anyone else. This means that you know your child’s likes, dislikes, strengths, and weaknesses better than anyone else. You know what makes your child feel safe and happy, and you have years of knowledge about what will help them build a successful life. If you choose to start a business as an at-home mom, you have a unique perspective and insider knowledge on what will make your product or service a success. You can have a special, customized approach that other entrepreneurs just can’t have.
You already have the tools you need.
At-home moms already have a lot of the tools they need to start a business. You have a computer or device that lets you connect to the internet, which is a necessity for almost all businesses. You probably already have a phone and access to email. If you want to be able to communicate with customers or team members, you may need to invest in a phone or video conferencing software. You may also want to invest in an ergonomic keyboard and chair to keep your hands, wrists, and back healthy while you work.
Staying at home with your kids is still a job!
Whether or not you choose to get paid for your work as an at-home mom, you’re still working. You’re building your child(ren) into responsible and productive members of society and setting them up for success. This isn’t a hobby or a side project; it’s a full-time job. If you choose to start a business as an at-home mom, don’t think of it as something you do when you have extra time. Instead, think of it as a full-time job where you set your own hours. If you want to succeed and grow your business, you need to work as if you have a full-time job. That means setting aside time to work on your business, networking and finding ways to grow your business, and staying focused on your goals. You can do this!
